Gowanus Canal CSO Retention Facilities

Monitoring construction of underground CSO storage tanks for the Gowanus Canal Superfund remediation.

A heavy civil environmental infrastructure program undertaken by the NYC DEP as part of the EPA-mandated Gowanus Canal Superfund remediation. The project includes constructing massive underground Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) storage tanks, headhouses, and retention structures designed to capture peak wet-weather runoff and prevent raw sewage discharges into the canal waterway.
