Project overview
Deep-rock tunneling and cavern excavation monitored for the 1.5-mile extension to Hudson Yards.
The 7-Line Extension is a municipal transit infrastructure project executed by MTA Construction & Development to extend the Flushing 7 subway line 1.5 miles westward from Times Square to 34th Street and 11th Avenue. The project required deep-rock tunnel boring, large cavern excavations, and the construction of the 34th Street–Hudson Yards station, serving as the transit backbone for the commercial redevelopment of Manhattan’s Far West Side.
